Short Courses and Workshops
Lists of upcoming short courses and workshops with their locations and dates are given on the Coming Events page.

General Information

Courses are conducted on both weekdays and Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM, including an hour for lunch and two coffee breaks. Workshops follow the same format but usually meet during the week.  The meeting times are flexible and may be changed upon request. We recognize the special needs of our international clients. All of our courses and workshops can be tailored to international clients to reflect cultural norms.

The courses usually are taught either at the CQFA facilities in Montreal or at the Sheraton Suites Hotel near O'Hare International  Airport. The CQFA facilities are located across the street from Pierre Traudeau International Airport and approximately 100 yards from a hotel.  The Sheraton Suites provides transportation between the terminals at O'Hare and the hotel. Any of our courses or workshops may be taught at a client's facilities or other suitable locations.

The enrollment fee includes all course materials and the coffee breaks. The fee should be paid at the time of enrollment (before the class begins) . The enrollment fee will be refunded for courses with fewer than six  participants; the minimum number of participants for workshops varies.  A participant may withdraw with no penalty from any course or workshop up to 3 weeks before the start date. A 50% penalty for late withdrawals will be assessed for participants withdrawing after that point. Enrollment closes 2  weeks before the start of a course or workshop unless otherwise indicated.

A participant who enrolls for more than 1 course or workshop will receive a $50 discount on each subsequent enrollment.  The cost of courses and workshops taught at clients' facilities  is negotiated.

Contact us about this course

"I was very pleased to take Dr. Diane Damos' Pilot Selection Test in Vancouver after our Air Transport Association of Canada Annual Meeting. Pilot selection is a hot topic with our ATAC flight training schools. Diane's course took us through the basics, explained the concepts clearly and gave us a chance to interact and ask lots of questions. It was friendly and informal but thorough and instructive. Diane's course is the ideal vehicle for ab initio flight training schools looking to become more educated on pilot selection."

Joan Williams,
Chair of the Board
Ottawa Aviation Services and member of the ATAC Board of Directors

“Over the course of two busy days, Diane Damos lead us to understand the structure of our pilot selection system in a worldwide context, and she offered high-quality, concrete advice on how to move forward. I highly recommend her Pilot Selection Systems Course.”

Dorothy Turner, Moncton Flying College
Head of Chinese Candidate Assessment and Selection

"The Pilot Selection Systems course ‘opened my eyes’ to more and better pilot pre-screening and selection considerations.  I’ve been recruiting pilots for years but this course and the extensive knowledge and understanding of the issues we face in the corporate world, that Ms. Damos shared, will shape the way we select pilots in the future.  Indeed, the principles in the course content are applicable to pre-screening and selection of any candidate for any job. It has been time well-spent and what I have learned will have a positive impact on future recruitment for my company. "

Human Resources Law:
A Practitioner Course

DAS offers a 1.5-day course in employment law for U.S. human resource specialists. This course begins with a review of all of the major federal acts pertaining to employment law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and important cases dealing with employment. The second half of the course is concerned with affirmative action and employment discrimination including harassment. The course concludes with a section on performance evaluation and the forms and legality of testing. Because this course deals only with U.S. law, it is taught only in the United States.

The fee for this course is $450 US per participant.  Because this course includes several computerized exercises, we suggest that each participant bring his/her laptop. If a student does not have a laptop, we will provide one. The class finishes at approximately noon on the second day to allow the participants to catch afternoon flights.
